At times life can be overwhelming and our personal struggles prevent us from finding the peace and happiness we deserve. When my clients are with me I ensure that they are in a safe place where change can be fostered in an empathetic atmosphere filled with compassion and patience. My therapeutic style is to help people see the present picture; look towards the future and to maintain balance while developing the proper tools to get there. I believe the relationship between the therapist and the client is paramount for productive treatment and ultimately for healing to occur. I feel that developing a trusting relationship with my clients is important for them to explore their struggles in a safe environment, allowing clients to have a deeper level of self-exploration. The approaches that I use in treatment vary on a case-by-case basis.

Because treatment varies, every therapy session is unique and caters to each individual and their specific goals. It is standard for my clients and I to discuss the primary issues and concerns in their life during our sessions. I believe that one of the main benefits of counseling is identifying a fresh perspective on a difficult problem. With younger clients, depending on how comfortable they are engaging in conversation I may utilize Expressive Art Therapy as well as Play Therapy in order to help them explore feelings and emotions that they may not be able to express with words. It is important to connect with clients despite their age and being able to create a partnership between client and counselor helps create trust, which promotes clients to engage on a deeper level.

I believe that therapy not only takes place in the therapy room, but also between sessions. Therefore, a part of your therapeutic process may include assignments outside the therapy room to further growth and develop a deeper sense of self-reflection. Through exploration and self-discovery it is my belief that clients are able to identify personal struggles and obtain a clearer understanding of their issues. Individuals become more successful in reaching their personal goals as well as following through with change once they are able to recognize the root of their own struggle.

We all have the ability to grow as individuals and are capable of empowering ourselves once we have the support to develop these tools. With my clients we will work together to keep their therapeutic journey moving forward by developing useful tools and reaching their goals to regain inner strength and once again trust in themselves.

Currently, I am working with individuals ranging from adults, adolescents, and elementary age children, couples and families.

When working with children I believe that the best outcomes occur when parents or caretakers are able to work conjointly with the child. At times I may assign activities or projects for your child to incorporate into their daily lives at home in order to practice new skills to achieve their goals. I have found over time that when the parent/caretaker, child and myself work together as a team, greater success is achieved. Although certain goals can be challenging, the positive changes that can occur are monumental and will essentially help to further the positive growth of your child in current and future relationships.
